Some snippets of stupidity

Two small pieces for today.

In the Bizarro world of Australian media, our biased, lying and corrupt media are throwing pompus tanties at the media inquiry, demanding why the government should have the audacity to suggest the industry should be regulated at all. Indeed, why should we regulate an industry that uses blatant political bias and routinely blackmails people? Read here for some valid reasons.

In other news, one of the campaigners of the Rape Is No Joke campaign on Facebook is undergoing her own trials and tribulations. A bit more after the jump.

I won't mention her name, but if you follow the campaign you may know who she is. I'm not going to mention her name simply because she's getting enough grief, and on the off-chance some misogynistic mouth-breather is reading this (not fucking likely, but you never know), I don't want to add fuel to her particular fire.

It's no real secret that Facebook are catching flak from RINJ, and with good reason. Facebook are being terribly lax about stamping out pages where people not only make jokes about forcibly fucking someone without their consent, but apparently people on said pages are also known to organise rapes. One of the most notorious pages in this regard was shut down, only to return a bare week later with [humour] added to its page name. Well, I'm glad that was cleared up. I'm so glad that by adding [humour] you can now have a good old laugh about people who have been traumatised by rape, and socialise with like-minded rape afficionados.

Sorry, the sarcasm just can't carry me through this today. This is fucked.

Meanwhile the campaigner I mentioned has had two friends from the campaign beaten up in a fast-food restaurant (which will remain Mc-Nameless) because they were posting on RINJ from their phones, and the knuckle-draggers who saw them doing this decided that the best way to stop people who happen to think rape is a bad thing, was to beat the shit out of them. Wonderful.

By now you're probably thinking 'Surely this violence is a sign for Facebook to clean up its act?' and you would be right, if we lived in a world filled with normal people, who weren't completely fucked in the head. In fact, Facebook have shut down her account, and refuse to reactivate it unless she hands over her full details, including a credit card number. Why they want that I can't imagine. I don't recall handing over my credit card number when I set up a Facebook account. Then again, I haven't gotten in Zuckerberg's face over his tolerance of rapists, so there you go. They also want her home address and phone number. Needless to say, she has a certain amount of trepidation that she's next to intercept a misogynist's high speed fist.

What in the fuck is wrong with people these days? What motherfucking Bizarro world have I ended up in where fucking rapists and rape apologists have the support of the biggest social network in the world, and the people who - quite rightly - say that state of affairs is fucking heinous get the shit kicked out of them and their accounts suspended? Did someone dump a crapload of acid in the world's water supply when I wasn't looking?

Hey Zuckerdick, clean your shit up. I don''t give a flying fuck how many of your staff think pages where guys joke about raping women is funny. It's not funny. You, your staff and all the mouth-breathing troglodytes who frequent those pages are fucked in the head.

Right, now I'm off to find a new planet to live on. You're not invited Zuckerdick, so don't even ask.
