The Malaysia Solution is dead in the water.

The whole deal was one that stank fairly strongly of intentional deceit and hypocrisy. GetUp had taken a refugee child to Chris Bowen months previously who described the awful life of being a minor asylum seeker. The Minister was reputedly in tears and vowed to ensure no minor ever suffered this life again.

What a shame party policy continually overrides conscience and human feeling. I have to at least thank Chris Bowen for having human feelings. I suspect that many of the ALP and Coalition are actually Visitors or Red Lectroids in human skin - emotionless lizard people sent to dominate our political policy.

When the Malayasia Solution was first touted Chris 'Gopher Cheeks' Bowen, said the government's legal position was very strong, very strong he intoned solemnly. The High Court disgreed and claimed it was in fact very weak, very weak they replied with bemusement.

So, the question remains, how many more legal and semantic gymnastics will the government have to perform to avoid it's legal obligations? Elements of the public (the stupid, short-sighted, misinformed and racist elements) may dislike asylum seekers, but as I've said before, it is foolish to base government policy on what the dumbest of your constituents believe. Onshore processing is quicker, cheaper and more humane. Countries that are also sigantories the the UNHCR treaty, and do onshore processing spend one-tenth what we do per head.

Now the government's only likely options are back to Christmas Island or to Nauru. Nauru especially causes a problem, as while the ALP were in opposition they howled down Nauru processing as inhumane. Still, compared to Malaysia, I'm sure it'd be like staying at a luxury Phuket resort.

For me, this begs the question, o ALP: If you howled down Nauru in opposition, but plumped for Malaysia while in government, can you please explain to me what, if anything, you actually ethically believe in? Otherwise I suspect you will do any shameless, low act just to score the poll support of any old drooling racist you can find.

And as to drooling racists. An ad I saw for Today Tonight last night 'The Government is sneaking asylum seekers into YOUR neighbourhood! Find out where THEY are being put!'

Let me ask you a question. Do you get to vett every person that moves into your neighbourhood now? No. Oh but when an asylum seeker is TEMPORARILY housed awaiting a visa approval, that's different? You expect to be allowed to veto it, because, why? Oh, because what they're worse than that family of bogans who play AC/DC until 4am and throw beer bottles over your fence? Or that snipey old bitch who continually tells you how your garden falls below her exacting standards?

Australia, your hypocrisy is hanging out again. Better tuck that shit back before someone sees it.
