Bob Katter forms party of like-minded bigoted simpletons

For readers outside of Australia, we have an independent MP known as Bob Katter, aka The Katt in the Hat, The Mad Katter, or simply The Mad Hatter, for his penchant for wearing his cowboy hat everywhere. It's been a little while since he went off to form his 'Australian Party'. Let's see what the crazy old coot is up to.

Democracy is great. As proof that democracy is open to all, we have Bob Katter - a man so delusionally self-important and ignorant that he shouldn't be allowed near cutlery that isn't made of plastic, let alone a job that requires careful thought on legislation that impacts on millions of Australians. Yet, there he is, sitting with his sturgeon face in Australia's Parliament. See how progressive we are? We have our very own Parliamentary idiot.

Lately, dissatisfied with Australia's poorly-performing two major parties (and who isn't really), The Katt in the Hat went off and formed his own political party to contest in the upcoming election. Figuring that obtuse and simplistic patriotism was the highest form of flattery he called his party 'the Australian Party'.

Bonzer.

Naturally he has gone and sought the finest and most competent party members he can find. He certainly hasn't just wandered into fish n' chip shops, asking random strangers if they'd like to join a political party that stands for whiteness, heterosexuality, hating poofs and smartarses and eating large numbers of cows as it appears he has done.

Needless to say, the Katt's gotten into strife before. He seems, in particular, to have a strong fear of gay men, and keeps his buttocks dutifully and patriotically clenched at all times, in case roaming gangs of gay drag queen pedophiles suddenly lose all sense of taste and decide to invade his wizened old bottom.

It should come as no surprise that a fervent and strident fear of the Gaypocalypse is a mandatory requirement for entry into the 'Strayun Pah-dee'.

So we have Bernie 'Chuckles' Gaynor who came out with;

Mr Gaynor said: "If we value free speech and democracy then we would respect the right of Christians to hold their views about right and wrong. And as a Christian, the homosexual lifestyle is immoral."

I will respect everyone's right to hold an opinion, though I refuse outright a demand to have the opinion itself recognised. Freedom of expression does not mean I have to play nicely with your opinion, especially when it comes from a bigot who believes in a Jewish zombie with superpowers. In that sense I freely admit that Bernie has a right to believe whatever ignorant baby-food for the brain he wishes to. I just reject that I should view his Christian views as anything other than bigoted stupidity, flung about by a simpleton.

Tess 'I am the instrument of the Lord, possibly a spatula' Corbett didn't hold back either;

[She] said it would be a "sad day" if homosexuals had equal rights to other people.
Asked whether she thought people were born gay or chose to be gay, Ms Corbett said: "God doesn't make mistakes."
The controversy started when Ms Corbett was quoted in her local paper, the Hamilton Spectator, comparing gay and lesbian people to paedophiles.
She said that "paedophiles will be next in line to be recognised in the same way as gays and lesbians and get rights".
"You have got morals, or you don't," she said.
She said if gay and lesbian Australians got more rights it would be sad "not only for themselves, but for families and children".

Tess' first policy priority is obviously to open a death camp to purge white Christian Australia of all the nasty 'undesirables'. Maybe she could just call them üntermensch and be done with it.

It's good to know that the Katt is surrounding himself with such loving Christians.

Okay look, when all of your horseshit is straight out of the US Fundamentalist's GayHate Playbook, you're going to sound like an idiot. When you keep shrieking 'Family! Children! Children and Families!' you sound little better than Steve 'the idiot' Fielding, and when you keep banging on about your violent Old Testament 'kill everything that moves' God, you sound like a crazy person. I don't think we've got much to worry about if these moronic bigots are the best the old Katt in the Hat can muster.

Is this what the conservative movement is coming to? Are the most strident opponents to progressive causes simply imbeciles shrieking about nonsense? Hopefully, because if this is the face of the anti-LGBT rights crowd, then well... the Katt's in the bag.

  1. Refuting homophobes will always be easy (observe: http://www.insufferableintolerance.com/yes-mellisa-there-are-gays-and-we-can-tell-you-how-to-speak-to-your-children/) because they:

    A) never want to be seen as the bad guy despite the bigoted bullshit they are spewing (which is why you'll hear "I didn't mean it that way, you're taking my words out of context")

    and/or

    B) none of their arguments are logical or based on fact. Their arguments are based on emotional opinion. They're projecting their fear and inability to handle their feelings of uncomfortability around diverse populations.
